About us at the Spanish Learning Centre in Blackpool..

Spanish Learning Centre Blackpool

Hola

Ruth at the Spanish Learning Centre

Hi everybody my name is Ruth Cunningham and I am the owner of the Spanish Learning Centre. I am married with three beautiful girls, my poor husband he is so out numbered!, but never mind he still manages to support Manchester United!!

I am the full time qualified tutor at the learning centre and have at the moment three part time tutors who come and help me out in the evenings. I am English originally from Winchester but have lived the majority of my life in Blackpool in the north of England. Apart from that is for the almost 10 years I was living and working in Spain mostly in Mallorca one of the Balearic Islands and the south of Spain in the Costa de Almería and Costa Del sol. I lived in Spain for most of the eighties, so never include me in a pub quiz as I am rubbish on anything to do with the eighties especially the music! Spain always was a bit behind when it comes to music so I hardly heard any of the great music that there was around in those days.

My passion is the Spanish Language and I love to share both the language and the cultural side of things I learnt along the way. As I am English I understand only too well how difficult it can be sometimes to learn a new language and I know (because I have been there!!) that sometimes it is the English that lets us down not our Spanish, Oh and shoes I just love shoes!!!

Give me a call and find out more about our lessons and we will do our utmost to fit you into a time that suites you and your busy life.

Hasta muy pronto
Ruth

Hola,

MariCarmen at the Spanish Learning Centre

My name is MariCarmen Begonia Suzanna Gonzalez Gil Smith!!, what a mouthful hey, so I am known as MariCarmen Smith!. I am a Civil servant but I teach part time at the Spanish Learning centre in the evenings.

I am half Spanish as my mother is Spanish from Bilbao in the North of Spain. I was born in the beautiful little village of La Linea. My dad is from Stoke-on Trent so I have the best of both worlds in that I speak perfect Spanish and English!. I love to cook mouth-watering meals from family recipes taught to me by my mother over the years and would gladly share these with you, although some of them have a secret family ingredient which I cannot share with you, lo siento (I’m sorry)! I love to travel and have many travel stories and anecdotes to make you laugh!

Being half Spanish makes it easier for me to understand the difficulties of learning foreign language as I, like Ruth can see it form the English side of things.

I love Spain and the Spanish people, I love to teach Spanish and at the Spanish learning centre we make it a fun and relaxing experience for you; so come and join us and have some fun learning a new language.

Give Ruth a call at The Spanish Learning centre

Hasta pronto
MariCarmen

Hola!

Gus at the Spanish Learning Centre

My name is Gus, short for Gustavo. I am a Spanish Native and have lived in England for 20 years. Most of you will probably be thinking why move to England, the weather is....wet, the winters are long; there is not much sun, etc etc. However, I had to move here to meet my lovely wife (well nearly, but don’t tell her that!!) Not to mention my two lovely children are English. The rest of my family still live in Benidorm where I am from, I have two brothers and a sister, 3 nieces and 1 nephew (no Grandchildren yet, thank goodness!)

For those of you out there that are thinking of learning Spanish and think it may be difficult to learn a language, and then listen to this. When I first came to England I could not speak any English whatsoever, I learnt English by listening and basically having to get on with it. I went to College to become a qualified chef. This course lasted 4 years. I could not speak English when I first started this course, and my notes were full of gaps, words that I did not understand or did not know what they meant. However, I passed the qualification (City and Guilds) with distinction - even in the written exam!! So you see, anything is possible if you put your mind to it!

I love my language and my roots, being Spanish, and I understand that a lot of English people are buying properties in Spain or go on holiday there regularly (I wonder why?!). I love to pass on my knowledge of the language and the Spanish traditions and culture to others that is why I love to teach Spanish.

At the Spanish Learning Centre, we can give you all the opportunity to learn in a friendly and fun environment. If you want to know any more details then please E-mail Ruth on the website.

Hasta Luego,
Gus

Hola,

Samantha at the Spanish Learning Centre

My name is Samantha, Sam for short and I am the newest member of the team at the Spanish learning centre. I am English originally from Blackpool. In 1993 I met my lovely husband Tomas in Mallorca and stayed there for 10 years. We have a son Max and live in Blackpool with my mum and our two dogs, Scooby and Scraps. Like Ruth I decided when I came back to the UK to use my Spanish and did all my Spanish exams up to A level. (Ruth and I are very proud of our Spanish certificates!) As I lived on mallorca I also learnt the local dialect, mallorquin, so sometimes words come out not quite as I intend them to but my students put me right there!!

As most of the time in our house, even to the dogs, we speak Spanish it seems natural for me to share this with you. Being English though, like Ruth, I also understand the difficulties in learning a foreign language from scratch but no te preocupes (don’t worry) we will help you all the way at the Spanish learning centre and let you take your Spanish as far as you want to.

Contact Ruth at the Spanish learning centre and she can sign you up for one of our beginner’s classes or put you into one of our already ongoing classes and let you keep up something you have started!

Hasta pronto,
Sam
